The Good Samaritan

I speak for my troubled heart:
Please understand I do not seek pity
for pity can conceal judgement.
I do not seek quick solutions
for I know my pain runs deep.
I seek your compassion, your presence
and you acceptance of who I am
beyond how I appear.
I seek a door opening to peace.

I speak as one who cares:
I do not stand apart from pain 
for weakness is my burden too.
I come to serve but
find myself being served.
I come to plant but
find the seeds already sown.
So let me come to simply care
that the way of peace might open for each.
